To stop the second wave of covid19 from spreading in India, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi today during a virtual meet with chief ministers of all states emphasized the fact that quick action and decisive steps must be taken on time to deal with the prevailing covid19 situation. He also reviewed the ongoing vaccination drive in the country and response of people towards it in different states.

Here are the highlights from PM Modi's address:

He said that people across the country had given a good response to covid19 vaccine. They have showed confidence and trust in our battle against covid19; therefore we should turn this achievement into carelessness. We have to deal with the prevailing situation without creating panic among the masses.

The strategy of ‘test, track and treat’ must be continued to trace the maximum number of contacts of an infected person. We need to keep the RT-PCR test rate above 70 per cent.

Modi asked the CMs to set up micro-containment zones amid surge without hesitation and they must be quick enough to take an action.

Modi said that CMs have to increase testing in small cities. They have to pay special attention to "referral system" and "ambulance network" in small cities.

Effect of disaster in one part of the world can quickly spread across the world; therefore, cooperation is must for ensuring the resilience of the global system.

PM said COVID-19 pandemic has taught us that in an inter-dependent and inter-connected world, no country- rich or poor, in the east or west, north or south- is immune to the effect of global disasters.

PM Modi calls for more vaccination centres and said that the issue of wastage of vaccine doses must be dealt very seriously.

Modi tells CM that they have to free the people off difficulties by taking some precautions and initiatives.

Such an increase of Covid cases is being seen in many districts that had protected themselves so far and were kind of safe-zones. 70 districts of the country have seen an increase of more than 150% in last few weeks. If we don't stop it here, a situation of nationwide outbreak can come up

Most of the COVID-affected countries in world had to face several waves of Corona. In our country too, cases have suddenly started increasing in some states. CMs have also expressed concern. The covid positive rate in Maharashtra & MP is very high & number of cases also rising.
