Hundreds of kilograms of drugs confiscated during an anti-drug drive were destroyed by Jalandhar Police Commissionerate

Commissionerate police is adopting zero tolerance to check the scourge of drugs, according to the CP

Continuing its crusade against drugs against menace of drugs, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Mr. Swapan Sharma on Tuesday disposed off 318 pending drug cases in the years 2023 and 2024 by destroying huge quantities of drugs recovered in these years.

Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police said that in the war against drugs Police had recovered a huge quantity of drugs by registering 318 cases against the drug peddlers. He said that u/s 52 A of NDPS Act, the case property is destroyed by the drug disposal committee. Mr. Swapan Sharma said that in accordance with the act the drug disposal committee constituted in Commissionerate Police Jalandhar today destroyed the drug confiscated from the smugglers in 2023 and 2024.   

The Commissioner of Police said that the drug property destroyed today include 327.12 kg of Poppy Husk, 8.483 kg of Heroin, 0.471 kg of Smack, 3.275 kg of Charas, 23.295 kg of Ganja, 1.27 lakh Pills, 4815 Capsules and 4.078 kg of Intoxicant Powder. While reiterating the firm commitment of the Commissionerate Police to wipe out drug menace from the district, he said that a zero tolerance policy is being adopted by the force against this heinous crime. Mr. Swapan Sharma said that anybody, however affluent he or she may be, indulging in this crime against humanity would not be spared by the Commissionerate Police.

The Commissioner of Police said that a strict vigil was being kept by the Commissionerate Police to check the supply of drugs on one hand and eliminate it from roots on the other. He said that the main thrust is to ensure that Jalandhar is made free from this curse adding that no stone is being left unturned for this noble cause and the efforts to eliminate this scourge are being made on war footing. Meanwhile, Mr. Swapan Sharma, while soliciting fulsome support and cooperation of the general public in the war against drugs, said that the mission of making Jalandhar a drug free district could not be achieved without their help.
