The newly appointed AG of Punjab has decided to donate his salary for the treatment of drug addicts and rehabilitation

Punjab’s Senior Advocate Anmol Ratan Sidhu has taken over as the newly Advocate General of Punjab after DS Patwalia. The Home Department issued the notification after the approval of CM Bhagwant Mann and the Governor on Saturday. After taking the charge, Anmol Ratan Sidhu said that he will take only 1 rupee salary. 

The rest of the salary will be donated for the treatment of the drug addicts and rehabilitation. He wrote a note, “On drug menace-Will reach out to such villages and donate my salary as AG for treatment of drug addicts and their rehabilitation. I will start from Vill. Maqbool Pura with the able guidance of Smt Jeevan Jyot Kaur MLA Amritsar East. @BhagwantMann @ArvindKejriwal @jeevanjot20”

Let us know something about the new AG of Punjab:

Anmol Rattan Sidhu was born on 1st May 1958 in a farmer family. He complete his primary education from his village and then shifted to Chandigarh in 1975. He took further education in Government College Sector-11, Chandigarh thereafter pursued law from Panjab University. He remained as a member of the Senate and Syndicate for a continuous period from 1990 onwards (12 years) and also served as Dean Faculty of Law in 2003-04.

In 1993, he joined as the Deputy Advocate General, Punjab till 2005, then as Additional Advocate General (Punjab & Haryana) handling various pivotal state matters. He also remained as a Special Public Prosecutor for CBI in the Punjab and Haryana High Court during this tenure. Anmol got elected as a Member of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana for consecutive five terms from 1997 onwards, whereof remained as the Chairman of the apex regulating body of lawyers in the year 2001-02.

He is the Recipient of Parman Patra for exceptional social service, by Punjab Government (the highest civilian award by the State).
