Weeks after IBM fired 300 Indian employees from their services division, fresh reports are coming in regarding IBM terminating more employees. 2000 more employees will be now fired, and the reason provided is performance issues.
The company confirmed that not performing ‘at a competitive level’ is the cause for the layoff. There is ‘small percentage of employees’ who fall in the same category are yet to leave the company. IBM now has over 350,600 employees, and from which only a small portion of the employees will be fire due to their performance issues.
In an interview the company stated the reason and said, “We are continuing to re-position our team to align with our focus on the high-value segments of the IT market – while aggressively hiring in critical new areas that deliver value for our clients and IBM.”
The IBM CEO Ginni Rometty had shockingly stated that Indians lack skills that are needed for the employment.
This decision has come up only weeks after firing 300 Indian employees from the software service division while the company was looking to cement their position in the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. With this move ‘reskilling’ of employees at IBM’s Indian campuses is also in full charge.
Surprisingly immediately after IBM fired a massive 300 employees the company HCL announced that they will recruit and make space for 2000+IBM employees in their company.
Since last six years IBM is facing the real crisis due to its dipping sales. The company could only manage to make 1% of revenue growth in the previous financial year. IBM has over 25,000 open positions worldwide and on the other hand it is slowing down the recruitment in traditional technologies.
