The security forces detected on Monday an improvisedexplosive device (IED) near the railway crossing in the Nowgam area of Jammuand Kashmir's Budgam district on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.Reportedly a major tragedy has been averted.
Police said a patrolling party of the security forces detected the IED on thenational highway.
"Movement of traffic has been halted in the area. Bomb disposal squad hasbeen deployed to defuse the IED," police sources said.
The rail service between Banihal in the Jammu division and Baramulla in Kashmirdivision were resumed earlier in the day after remaining suspended for 11months due to the pandemic.
Earlier in February, the police recovered aseven-kilogram Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from the Jammu bus stand onSunday, officials said.
