IG presents DGP’s special disc for exemplary service to DSP Sarabjit Rai

Disc has been awarded for exceptional work done by officers on the frontline of the Covid-19 operations.

Jalandhar, March 19 - In a rare distinction, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr Sarabjit Singh Rai was today bestowed Director General of Police’s honour and  Disc for Exemplary Seva to Society’ by the Inspector General of Police (Jalandhar range) Mr Ranbir Singh Khatra.

Mr Sarabjit Rai had been selected for the coveted award due to meticulous work done by him during the Covid 19 relief operations early last year. His name was approved by the Director-General of Police after meticulous screening and examination of the various nominations sent by the Senior Superintendent of Police to recognize the exceptional work done by Punjab Police and other officials working on the front lines of the COVID-19 operations and response activities in the state. Pertinently, the DSP had emerged as the poster boy of the humane face of the Punjab Police in Jalandhar after his video and pictures while distributing dry ration to needy people had gone viral on various social media platforms.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Superintendent of Police expressed his gratitude to the Director-General of Police for choosing them for the coveted award. Mr Rai said that he was overwhelmed at being chosen for the rare honour. Mr Rai further said that this award has filled them with a renewed zeal to serve society. He also thanked Mr  Khatra for giving him valuable guidance in performing his duty efficaciously.

Meanwhile, pinning the disc on DSP, the Inspector General of Police recalled the hard work done by him during the Corona crisis. He said that Mr Sarabjit Rai played a vanguard role to save the precious lives of people during the grave crisis of the Covid pandemic. Mr Khatra said that this disc was aimed at recognizing the exceptional work done by Punjab Police and other officials working on the front lines of the COVID-19 operations and response activities in the state.
