
Calling Doaba region the heart of Punjab, the ChiefMinister Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday vowed to transform it into afrontline part of the State by according top priority to the developmentcentric projects here especially in the Adampur constituency. As part of hiscommitment to ensure accelerated progress in Adampur, the Chief Ministerannounced Rs. 19 crore for the development works of the infrastructural nature.
Addressing a huge gathering, the Chief Minister said thatout of the above said Rs. 19 crore, Rs. 9 crore have been earmarked for thestrengthening/widening/four laning of the roads besides Rs. 10 crore have beenplaced at the disposal of Mohinder Singh Kaypee for carrying out developmentcentric works of any kind.
In response to the demand put forward by the Chairman(Cabinet Rank) The Punjab State Board of Technical Education and IndustrialTraining Mohinder Singh Kaypee about giving Sub Division status to Adampur,Channi announcing to conduct a survey very soon to explore the viability of thedemand. The Chief Minister also announced that he is ready to concede thedemand of opening a Degree College in Adampur provided the availability of 5-10acres of land along a big road.
Likewise, the Chief Minister also said that the roadleading towards the Adampur airport would be named after Guru Ravidass Ji andthe proposal to name the airport after Guru Ravidass Ji would be sent to theUnion Government. "The Kshatriya Rajputs would be again accorded thestatus of General Category", divulged Channi in response to anotherdemand.
Coming down heavily on the Akalis, the Chief Ministersaid that they have always used the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) as a pawn ontheir political chessboard. "In 1996 the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had analliance with the BSP but the very next year they ditched BSP and joined theBJP", said Channi adding after getting a taste of their own medicine fromthe BJP, the akalis have now again come around to have a truck with the BSP butthis time too they are upto their old devious political game and have givensuch seats to the BSP like Hoshiarpur and Pathankot from where they have neverthemselves won. Secretly, the SAD is still hand in glove with the BJP.
Exhorting the Bahujan Samaj to unite under the banner ofCongress party, the Chief Minister said that there is rule of Bahujan Samaj inPunjab now.
Listing the landmark steps undertaken by his Governmentfor the benefit of all the sections of the society, the Chief Minister saidthat domestic power rates have reduced by Rs. 3 per unit with the facility offree 200 units to 21 lakh families to continue as before, Ownership rightsunder 'Mera Ghar Mere Naam' scheme given to residents living under Lal Lakir inurban and rural areas, One Lakh jobs to be provided with process alreadyunderway, Farm motor bills waived off giving respite to the tune of Rs. 1200crore to the farmers, water charges fixed at flat Rs. 50 besides many more propeople initiatives.
The Member of Parliament from Jalandhar Chaudhry SantokhSingh while welcoming the Chief Minister said that now a 'Lohpurush' (Ironman) has become the ChiefMinister of the State.
Earlier, in his address, ex Minister, ex President PPCCand the Chairman of The Punjab State Board of Technical Education andIndustrial Training Mohinder Singh Kaypee disclosed that by kickstartingdevelopment works to the tune of Rs. 130 crore in Adampur today, the ChiefMinister has unleashed a wave of prosperity.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister was also felicitated. Among others present on the occasion included MLAKartarpur Chaudhary Surender Singh, Ex MLA Adampur Kanwaljeet Singh Lali andChairman Market Committee Adampur Gurmit Singh.
