In Points: How to apply for ‘Digital Health ID’ under ABDM? How is it different from Aadhaar?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today unveiled Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission and now every Indian will get a digital health ID under the newly launched scheme.
The government stated that the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will play an important role in the digital health ecosystem, adding that "people will now be only a click away fromaccessing healthcare services."
"The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will now assist in the connectivity of digital health solutions throughout the country. This initiative will provide all Indians with a digitalhealth ID," Prime Minister stated adding that "every citizen's health record would now be digitally secure and digitisation will make healthcare easier."

• A health ID will be generated for each Indian under Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, which will also serve as their health account, to which personal health records can be linked andviewed via a mobile application.
• This health ID will be different from the Aadhaar ID. The Aadhaar has a single purpose to provide identity, also, the legal policies of the "Aadhaar Act" prohibit its usefor any other purpose.
• The digital health ID is a 14-digit number that will be used to uniquely identify people, authenticate them, and thread their health records across many systems and stakeholders withtheir informed consent. 

• Creating safer and more efficient digital health records for you and your family begins with the use of a Health ID. 
• You can choose to create a digitally secure Health ID that allows you to share and access your health data with participating healthcare providers and payers with your consent.

• You can receive a Health ID by self-registering yourself on the Health ID site or by downloading the ABDM Health Records app from the Google Playstore. 
• You can also get your Health ID generated at a participating health facility which could be a public or private hospital, a community health centre or a health and wellness centreanywhere in India.
• The health ID can be created through a mobile number or Aadhaar card.
