The fifth day of the first Test in Chennai between India and England continues. England gave India a target of 420 runs. In response, India have scored 150+ runs losing 6 wickets. Captain Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin are at the crease. India still needs 260+ runs to win. England had scored 578 runs in the first innings and 178 runs in the second innings. Whereas, Team India had scored 337 runs in the first innings.

With the ball reverse swinging and turning sharp, India's ace batsman Virat Kohli is fighting hard to hold one side of the batting line-up and survive the fifth and final day of the first test. And in-pursuit of this, Kohli also scored his 24th half-century.

Team India started off chasing the target and it was a bad start. Spinner Jack Leach, playing the first Test in India, delivered two setbacks. He sent Rohit Sharma (12 runs) and Cheteshwar Pujara (15 runs) to the pavilion. Fast bowler James Anderson has taken 3 wickets in this innings so far using the reverse swing.
