India needs to become self-reliant: PM Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed the Lok Sabha at 4 pm.

Lok-Sabha Motion-Of-Thanks Narendra-Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a motion of thanks to the President on the Lok Sabha floor on Wednesday, called the President’s speech as “inspiring”.

"The President's address represents how the country set a roadmap for itself in the most difficult of times,” PM Modi said.

Modi also congratulated MPs for taking part in the parliament discussion that continued beyond midnight. "I would like to thank our women MPs in particular because their participation was more."

"India is an island of many nations and no one can make it one nation," PM Modi quoted a British official from the 1940s to state how India has overcome such tough challenges.

"Every nation has a message to deliver, ambition to fulfil, a destiny to reach,” PM Modi quoted Swami Vivekananda. The manner India has handled itself and the world during the Corona pandemic is a landmark point for our nations, added Modi.

Recalling how the planet was destroyed after World War II, the PM said this was followed by a new world order and the formation of the UN.

"A new world order is emerging post-Corona. A new design of relationships is coming to light. We have to decide how to find a place for ourselves," PM Modi said.

India will have to emerge as stronger from every situation, but we cannot always give populations as an excuse to fail. India will have to be efficient, self-reliant to do that and the answer to that is ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat', said the prime minister in the lower house of the parliament.

He said, “Atma Nirbhar Bharat is the way forward to establish and strengthen India in the new world order.”

Few highlights from Prime Minister’s speech by far on covid warriors:-

"Vocal for local" is echoing throughout the country. It is doing good for an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. We need to mould and change ourself towards a self-reliant India."

"Today, we are surviving against the coronavirus pandemic because of those doctors, nurses who stepped in as god. Sanitation workers, ambulance drivers and other staff deserve all the appreciation. "

"Our doctors, nurses, COVID warriors, Safai Karamcharis, those who drove ambulances...such people and so many others became manifestations of the divine who strengthened India's fight against the global pandemic."
