
The Indian tricolour flag was located among a group of American flags amid Wednesday's US Capitol Hill attack. Thousands of pro-Trump supporters stormed the Capitol Hill in Washington DC, trespassing security, ransacking offices, flipping tables, smashed windows and looted the building.
The violence began when thousands of protesters supporting Trump forced entered the East Front of the Capitol grounds, some waving Trump flags, some American flags.
In a video taken from the attack displays an unidentified person waving an Indian flag alongside dozens of red and blue ones. The video shared by journalist Alejandro Alvarez, the Indian flag stands out in between American flags.
Several Twitter users were intrigued to see the video and reacted asking questions on what was the Indian flag doing at the US Capitol violence.
BJP MP Varun Gandhi expressed his shock on the microblogging platform on how the Indian flag appeared at the Capitol. "Why is there an Indian flag there??? This is one fight we don't need to participate in..." he wrote.
Criticising the presence of Indian flag at the US Capitol, Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi wrote, "Don't use our tricolour to participate in such violent & criminal acts in another country."
Meanwhile, Bollywood actor, comedian Vir Das took a dig at the person holding the flag. Several other users too expressed their wonder on why an Indian flag would be at such an event.
