With the rollout of the Indian government’s new vaccine policy on June 21, a new record has been scripted by the nation in its fight against the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

On Monday, more than 8 million people across the nation received their Covid-19 vaccine jab, thus making the Centre’s new vaccine policy a big hit.

Notably, this number is almost double of the earlier the highest mark recorded in April i.e. 43 lakh.

According to the government officials, with the latest 8 million vaccinated records India has become the world’s country to administer anti-viral doses in a single day to a massive population.

Interestingly, today’s count has states that India has nearly vaccinated the population of Israel or twice the population of New Zealand in a single day.

As per the centralized vaccine policy that came into effect on June 21, the eligible age groups will get their jab for free. Also, under this policy, states are procuring vaccine lots directly from the Centre without charges applicable on it.
