In a brazen public execution, a 28-year-old Indo-Canadian gangster was shot dead by suspected rivals on Sunday at Vancouver International Airport.

The Vancouver police identified the victim as Karman Singh Grewal, who was associated with United Nations gang.

It is being learnt that Grewal was “very close” to gangster Jimi Sandhu, who was deported to India in 2016.

As per various media reports, Royal Canadian Mounted Police Sgt. Frank Jang while speaking at a press conference, said that the incident was related to a gang conflict and the victim was known to police.

Richmond police said on Twitter that the shooting happened outside the departure terminal at 3 pm, adding that there was 'one male victim'. The tweet continued that the police intercepted the getaway vehicle but were shot at by the escaping suspects, though no officers were injured.

The minister of Public Safety Bill Blair said, "My thoughts are with the communities in the lower mainland who have been impacted by gun and gang violence far often."

Police claimed that after the incident airport was normally operating. The airport authority confirmed and said, "The airport is open and safe for airport workers and those who need to travel."
