After intense heat, IMD predicts a wet spell over Jalandhar, along with thunderstorms

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Jalandhar will witness cloudy weather for the upcoming week, which will be accompanied by heavy to moderate rainfall across the city. 

It is to be noted that this prediction has been made following the days of intense heat waves and scorching heat. 

According to the official statement by the IMD, the city will witness episodes of thunderstorms with 70 percent predictability with heavy to very heavy rainfall. Expectedly, the thunderstorms and rainfall will bring relief to the high temperature, and the temperature will reduce to 26°C and 33°C.

It is worth mentioning that the IMD prediction has revealed that following the rainfall on June 17, the city will continue to witness rainfall and thunderstorms on June 19, Thursday with around 35 percent predictability, June 20, Friday with around 35 percent of predictability and on June 21, Saturday with around 40 percent of predictability. As per the official statement, the predictability will be increased to 50 percent on Sunday (June 22). 

During this time, the temperature will range between 26°C to 37°C, depending on the rainfall prediction, thunderstorm predictions, and the level of humidity in a particular region.

However, the prediction has also revealed that Wednesday, June 18, will witness a sunny day, but a major increase in temperature will not be noticed.

As per IMD Chandigarh's daily temperature briefing, Bathinda remained the hottest district of Punjab at 42.2°C. Amritsar- 39.5°C, Ludhiana- 38.6°C, Patiala- 34.1°C, Pathankot- 39.8°C, Gurdaspur- 39°C, Fazilka- 38.2°C, Hoshiarpur- 37.5°C, etc.
