Intoxicated doctor urinates on clothes seller outside Jalandhar's ESIC hospital; assaults him for protesting it

A Madhya Pradesh-like incident has come to the fore in Jalandhar in which a doctor was seen creating a ruckus in an intoxicated state publically and urinating on a clothes seller.

In yet another blood boiling & shameful incident, a drunk doctor recently created a ruckus publically and urinated on a clothes seller outside ESIC hospital in Jalandhar. Recently, a video from Madhya Pradesh went viral in which a man urinated on a tribal youth. Following that, many stringent sections were invoked against him, and the urinating man was soon arrested by the Police. Now, a similar kind of incident has come to the fore in which a doctor was seen creating a ruckus in an intoxicated state publically. Notably. when the clothes seller tried to stop him, the doctor slapped him. Not only this but when the seller called the nearby shopkeepers for help, the intoxicated doctor started arguing with them as well. Finally, the people present at the spot were fed up with the incident and therefore they called the Police to intervene. As per reports, the police first took the doctor to the ESIC hospital in a car and then dropped him home.

The clothes seller named Arun Sehgal was quoted saying that that there was another doctor along with the doctor of ESIC hospital. The doctor came in an intoxicated state near his stool and started urinating there. He thought that he might be ill. Thinking he was sick, the shopkeeper went to help him, however, he found out that he was drunk. The doctor slapped him when he told him that this was his source of livelihood.

Apart from this, Senior Medical Officer of ESIC Hospital Kulwinder Kaur was quoted saying that the Medical Superintendent is not in the hospital, he has taken leave. However, if there is any complaint registered against him of such behavior, then it will be forwarded to the higher authorities. Furthermore, when asked about getting the doctor's medical done, Kaur stated that it all depends on the complaints received. If there is a complaint, medical can also be done.

Coming to the Madhya Pradesh incident, after the video of man urinating on tribal youth went viral, a case was registered against Pravesh under Indian Penal Code sections 294 (obscene acts), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), and provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The opposition Congress had demanded that the BJP government in the state use a bulldozer to demolish Shukla's properties. As a result, hours after his arrest, the local authorities on Wednesday pulled down a part of a house belonging to his father. Furthermore, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday invited tribal labour Dashmat Rawat, the victim of the urination incident, to his residence in Bhopal where he washed his feet and also apologised to him.
