With India under lockdown, businesses and the economy are going to be severely hit especially the financially weaker section of the society. And to control that the government of India has announced a relief package of $22 billion. However, the question aries will it be enough for a country with a 135 crore population. Supreme Court lawyer and Congress member Jaiveer Shergill has raised some serious questions in front of the Modi government.

The relief package announced by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on March 26 partly covers some of the basics that the government desperately needs to get right under these circumstances: ensuring essential services remain operational, migrant workers’ welfare, functional public distribution system, etc. 

Shergill outlined a comparative analysis of India's relief package with other country's relief package.As per Shergill, Singapore announced the relief package of $33 billion which has a population of 58 lakh, The USA announced a relief package of $2 trillion which have a population of almost 38 crore, England has announced 350 billion pounds and the list goes on.

Reserve Bank of India governor Shaktikanta Das on Friday announced a halt on EMIs loans, however, there were Shergill vouched to extend EMI moratorium for farmers as well.
