The Idol on HBO has officially come to an end! Viewers are left wondering how ‘Jocelyn’, played by ‘Lily-Rose Depp’, came to be a powerful international star in charge of a cunning cult leader as the series finale progresses. The finale of "The Idol" aired Sunday night, leaving many wondering whether the controversial show co-created by Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye and "Euphoria" mastermind Sam Levinson would return for another season. ''The Idol'' season 1 is streaming now on Max.

Would there be a Season 2 of ‘The Idol’?

Many viewers have mocked "The Idol" on social media, making fun of the show's embarrassing moments and gross scenes, in addition to receiving unfavorable reviews from other critics. Many people have anticipated the show will be cancelled after its initial run because of these factors. However, one celebrity believes that the programme is still alive. Da'Vine Joy Randolph, who played the role of Jocelyn’s manager ‘Destiny’ said that the show "was never intended to be a limited series." She added that "nothing is official, but HBO is quite happy" with the show.

Till July, 2023, there is no such confirmation about ‘The Idol Season 2’. However, a representative for Max has pointed out to a tweet saying that it has been "misreported" that a decision on the future of the show had been made.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph also stated that she believes the series was “intentionally” building the foundation to return.

“I see Season 1 as setting up the world in great detail and character development, to set up a season two where it’s like, now we’re really going to get in the sh*t,” she said.

“When you finish a project, it’s always like, “Is there a possibility for Season 2?’ And they’re always like, ‘Yeah, for sure!’ It’s everyone’s desire and intention to do a Season 2, and until we hear differently, that’s the plan.”

What will be the release date of ‘Season 2’?

As of now, no release date of The Idol ‘Season 2’ has been confirmed. Even though it hasn't been officially announced, we would anticipate it to be out in 2024, if not 2025.

What will season 2 be all about?

There is no official plot of the season 2 of the show, however it could be assumed that the next season would be about Jocelyn in the next stage of her career.

In the conclusion, Jocelyn appeared to be in control of the situation: she had Tedros' supporters under her control and had a strong supporting cast when, in a startling turn of events, it was revealed that she had been lying about her mother's abuse. Everything was merely a story, and she was in charge throughout. She also invited Tedros onto the platform, where she publicly confessed her love for him, much to the consternation of Nikki, Chaim, and Finkelstein. There is potential for another season with questions including if Jocelyn will dismiss her crew and start over, how Tedros will handle being treated like a lapdog after gaining so much authority, and whether Rob's treatment will result in any repercussions.
