India has been going through really tough times. The health infrastructures has badly collapsed, covid dead bodies are being found either floating in rivers or buried in sand near rivers. Besides, there is oxygen, beds, medicines and even vaccine shortage in the country.

Looking at the situation, the centre government must be held accountable for poor preparedness to handle the spread of the second wave of the virus, but what about us?

What we as citizens have done to tackle the second wave. The study reveals that we even failed to wear a mask which since day one is being termed as the biggest weapon to fight covid. Isn’t we are equally responsible for the covid19 crisis as we failed to follow the basic guidelines.

Just think for a moment! Have you ever asked your neighbour or friend whom you spotted not wearing a mask that why they aren’t wearing it or for what reasons? Forget about this, have you ever corrected anyone wearing a mask below nose. Then how are we supposed to raise fingers on government or anyone else?

The Union Health Ministry in its survey revealed that only 50 percent of people wear masks despite the critical role it plays in the battle against the second wave of coronavirus. It also mentioned that 64 percent of the people, who do wear masks, do not cover the nose.

As per the survey, 90 percent of the people are aware of the importance of a mask, but still only half of them wear one. The statement from Health Ministry said that these figures reflect “laxity” in following crucial Covid norms like wearing masks and avoiding crowding.

The statement released by Health Ministry said, “One infected person could spread Covid19 to an average of 406 other individuals in 30-days. Without restrictions, the number of days can be reduced to 15. In the meeting, it was highlighted that the concept of the second wave reflected more laxity among everyone regarding Covid appropriate behavior and Covid containment and management strategy at the ground level.”
