
A day after Chief Minister Punjab, Capt Amarinder Singh ina press conference held at Chandigarh announced to extend the night curfew timingsto 9pm to 5am in place of 11pm to 5am, in worst-affected nine districts of thestate, the respective district administrations have started issuing ordersrelated to restrictions and movements allowed during night curfew.
The district administration Jalandhar on Thursday issuedthe orders of increase in night curfew timings and instructed the Policeofficials to keep a strict vigil.
Meanwhile, on Friday morning, the Deputy CommissionerJalandhar issued fresh orders in which he exempted the medical services fromthe night curfew.
“The orders which were issued regarding night curfew in JalandharDistrict on Thursday, will not be applicable on medical stores and hospitals”,reads the fresh orders issued today. He further said medical stores andhospitals can operate after 9pm to cater the medical needs of the residents.
The development came after CM Capt Amarinder announcedstrict night curfew in the districts of Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala,Mohali, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala and Ropar. All thesedistricts are reporting more than 100 cases daily.
Jalandhar on Thursday reported 510 cases, while the Punjab’sdaily cases shot up to 2300 cases with over 30 deaths on Thursday.
In addition, the Chief Minister also said the Covid situationin the state was critical and he was going to be tough.
