

Commissionerof Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar on Saturday reviewed the law and ordersituation in the city during a crime review meeting.
Divulgingthe details, the CP said that a number of issues including securityarrangements at vulnerable points, beefing up of patrolling, strictlyenforcement of night curfew in city, and seizure of properties of accused booked under NDPS Act, were discussed atlength in the meeting.
Mr.Bhullar further stated that since Covid-19 is resurging, it was need of the dayto strictly impose night curfew and covid appropriate behaviour in the city. Hementioned that violation of government's protocol comprising wearing masks,maintaining social distancing, washing hands etc. is unwarranted and strictaction to be taken against the violators.
Whiletaking stock of the law and order situation in the city, the Commissioner ofPolice asked all the field officials to beef up security arrangements fprvulnerable people and places in the city. He further ordered to increase nightpatrolling in the city besides keeping a check over the habitual offenders whowere set free on bail. He also asked SHOs to maintain the list of suchoffenders and suspects while keeping an eye over their activities.
Hesaid police teams/PCR staff have been ensuring monitoring and patrolling in thecity round the clock as these places witness high footfall on week-endsincluding shopping malls, markets, restaurants, and others.
Headded that every effort would be made to make the security system moreresponsive and efficient.
Hesaid that the major focus of the Commissionerate Police was on the preventionof crime and instilling a sense of security amongst the residents. He said thatno one would be allowed to take the law into their hands at any cost.
Meanwhile,the CP also reviewed the status of property seizures of accused booked underthe NDPS Act and directed the officials to expedite the process of seizure ofsuch criminals.
Prominentamong others present on the occasion included DCPs Gurmeet Singh, Naresh Dogra,ADCP Jagjit Saroya, ACP Vimalkant, and all SHOs of the commissionerate.
