With an aim to keep the virus spread under check, DeputyCommissioner Ghanshyam Thori today appointed 246 Covid monitors and supervisorsto keep an eagle eye over gathering in hotels, marriage palaces, and banquethalls.

Divulging the details, the deputy commissioner said that as thestate government has capped gathering in marriage events, all the monitors haveto ensure the maximum gathering of one hundred and two hundred for the indoorand outdoor events respectively. He further added that besides ensuringgathering was within the prescribed limit; they also have to make sure theCovid appropriate behavior was implemented during the events in letter andspirit. He also said that the maintenance of social distancing, wearing masks,availability of hand sanitizers have to be ensured by these monitors as all themanagers of these institutions were appointed as Covid monitors.

The deputy commissioner stated that the administration has alsoappointed supervisors (government officials) for all the 246 hotels, marriagepalaces, and banquet halls. These supervisors would conduct random visits inthe institutions allotted to them and submit their report to districtadministration about the enforcement of the state government's guidelines andprotocol during an event, he added. Mr. Thori categorically mentioned that allthe Covid monitors would be responsible for the implementation of Covid appropriatebehavior in their institutions and appropriate action would be taken againstthem if non-compliance with the government's orders were reported by thesupervisors.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner has directed the officials ofthe education department to ensure vaccination of government teachers as theyhave been recognized as frontline workers for rendering their services duringthe pandemic. Further, he asked the officials of the health department to speedup their daily sampling so that the virus could be kept at a bay adding hedirected the officials to ensure at least 15 contacts of a positive patient tobe traced in the district besides enforcement of curfew-like strictness in thecontainment zones.

The deputy commissioner also directed the local police authoritiesto keep a tab over the gathering in the crowded public places while ensuringproper enforcement of night curfew in the district. He said that the battleagainst Coronavirus can only be won with collective efforts and beingcomplacent could take a heavy toll on all of us.
