Jalandhar DC Ghanshyam Thori directs officials to further speed up vaccination of children and adolescents

He asks school managements and parents to ensure vaccination of children.

With a view to ensure 100 percent Covid vaccination of children in the age group of 12-14 years, district administration Jalandhar has appointed 126 Civil Nodal Officers to coordinate with schools to achieve this goal.
 
Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori while presiding over a virtual meeting with all the SDMs and Nodal Officers in this regard said that 126 Civil Nodal Officers have been appointed for 1465 Government and Private Schools in the district to provide vaccination facilities to students falling in the age group of 12-14 years. He further said that 35 Civil Nodal Officers have been appointed for 434 schools of Sub Division Jalandhar-1 for smooth conduct of immunization. Similarly, 29, 17, 25 and 20 nodal officers have been appointed for sub-divisions Jalandhar-2, Nakodar, Phillaur and Shahkot respectively.


He further said that out of 68394 beneficiaries in this age group, a total of 23162 have been vaccinated in the district so far.  The Deputy Commissioner further directed all the SDMs to expedite the immunization of eligible beneficiaries in this age group in collaboration with the concerned nodal officers in the schools falling under their respective jurisdictions so that the target of 100 percent immunization could be achieved as soon as possible.

The Deputy Commissioner said that it was very important to vaccinate the children against the harmful effects of the virus. He also appealed to the parents of the children to come forward for vaccination of their children to be vaccinated.
