Deputy Director of Factories and his assistant PF commissioner wife were brutally attacked on the highway, while they were returning to Jalandhar. The Deputy Director was pushed and thrown in the middle of the road so that they could be crushed under a vehicle. The couple were rescued by people after they shouted for help.
However, the assaulters have escaped from the spot by that time.
The incident took place on March 5, and police have filed a case against an unidentified youth under IPC sections, 307, 323, 341, 506,509, 332, 353 and 186 at station Division 8.
What happened?
Dwarka Das, deputy director of the labour department posted in Ludhiana, said he lives in Maadi Harniyan Nussi, a village in Maksudan. His wife Jashandeep Kaur is Assistant PF Commissioner, also posted in Jalandhar. On March 5, around 6.15 pm, while returning home from duty, Das was on his way home from PAP Chowk with his wife. When he crossed the Lamma Pind flyover, he was overtaken by a white Maruti Jain car number PB 08AP-6262 from the rear, which had been driven by a young man.

Das said that after overtaking his car, the young man got down from his car and pointed towards the tire of his car. He felt that his car's tire might have been punctured. But when he got down, the youth hit his head with a small sharp weapon and brutally assaulted him and his wife.
