Heinous incident took place in Jalandhar where a father murdered a 6-month-old daughter in frustration of not getting a boy as a child. Reportedly, incident took place in Pholriwal Village adjoining city. The infant after being murdered was buried in the ground. A possibility of rape has also been alleged by deceased’s mother but no information regarding the same has been given by police looking after the case.
The incident came to fore when accused’s wife lodged a complaint against her husband for killing her daughter. She informed that the accused wanted a son, soon after she gave birth to a baby girl his behavior changed and started hating the kid to such an extent that he picked up his daughter and took her near a water tank in the village and strangled her to death. In order to save himself from the police, the body of the deceased was buried by him.
After filing the complaint, the police officials recovered the body from the sight informed by the mother and for the time being it is kept in the mortuary of Jamsher Hospital. The post-mortem of the body will take place in some time that will clear the apprehension of rape raised by the mother of deceased.
The accused has been arrested. He has been booked under section 302 of IPC for murder and if found guilty in the rape aspect then case will be filed against him accordingly. The police have informed that the accused murdered his daughter on the night of Diwali. As the murder was done on Diwali, so the police are also looking at the aspect of superstition. It is alleged that as he wanted to have a son, might have murdered the daughter under superstition in hope of having a baby boy.
