In a harrowing development from Jalandhar, Punjab, a 16-year-old girl was raped and filmed on camera by an adult man. Following this, the accused reportedly continued Sexually assaulting the victim after threatening to release the tape. Basti Bawa Khel police station has registered a case against the accused, identified as Ayush, resident of Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar, under section 376 (rape) of IPC, IT Act and POCSO Act.
According to the information, the medical examination of the 16-year-old girl was conducted on Saturday. Police have started searching for the accused. The victime is a student of class 8. In her statement to the police, the 16-year-old girl said that she was troubled while living in at home for the past several days causing her family to ask her about it. The family asked the girl numerous times what had happened, but she did not divulge any information.
The girl informed that she was scared of the accused because of the video in his possession. It was for this reason that she was not divulging information to her parents. However, when implored, she told her entire story.
The family reached the Basti Bawa Khel police station where the police immediately got the girl medically examined and registered a case under section 376 (rape) of IPC, IT Act and POCSO Act. .
The victim informed that the accused had committed this act around 3 months ago. He was physically abusing her by threatening to make the video viral. The police say that the accused will soon be arrested and presented in court to be put in remand.
