Jalandhar: Minorities Commission Chairman Sardar Iqbal Singh meets victims of Latifpura

On December 9, 2022 the team of Improvement Trust arrived with about 600 officers and allegedly demolished Latifpura residents’ illegal houses on behalf of orders given by the High Court.

Chairman of the Minorities Commission in the Government of India Sardar Iqbal Singh, visited Latifpura in Jalandhar on Sunday to meet the locals of that area whose houses have been demolished. On this occasion, senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia was also present with him during the visit.

On December 9, 2022 the team of Improvement Trust arrived with about 600 officers and allegedly demolished Latifpura residents’ illegal houses on behalf of orders given by the High Court. Since that day, these people are forced to sleep in tents due to which a few days ago the residents of Latifpura together with the farmers blocked the National Highway but still the issue remain unresolved.

Speaking to the media, the Chairman of the Minority Commission Sardar Iqbal Singh said that he came to know from the news that the houses of people have been demolished in Latifpura. He further said that demarcation was not done by Improvement Trust due to which people are still unaware of how much is government space and how much is private. He said, “I have sent a notice to the chips factory of the Punjab government and asked for a report, which has not yet come to me.”
