Jalandhar PPR Market announced as a ‘No-Vehicle Zone’ for orderly New Year celebrations

Traffic will be diverted from several places nearby including Model Town, where also no vehicle will be allowed to enter

The Jalandhar police commissionerate has issued orders regarding the New Year celebrations. Polce Commissioner Swapan Sharma declared Jalandhar’s PPR Market a no vehicle zone due to New Year celebrations. During this period, no vehicle, including two-wheelers, will be allowed to enter the market.

 

Jalandhar Police Commissioner, Swapan Sharma said that he will not let the atmosphere of celebrations be spoilt this New Year. For this, the PPR Market has been declared a no vehicle zone for the New Year celebrations. While giving information about the subject, ADCP Kanwalpreet Singh Chahal said that if anyone tries to spoil the atmosphere by breaking the law and order, then strict action will be taken against them. He said that a close watch is being kept on the New Year celebrations. 

 

During the New Year celebrations, they have made complete plans against those who drink and drive on the roads. There will be police checkposts at regular intervals and people will be tested with alcohol meters. He said that if someone drives a vehicle after drinking alcohol, they will be issued a challan and legal action will also be taken. The police have also prepared a plan to stop tampering and harassment on the street. Any such action, which spoils the atmosphere, will not be tolerated.

 

In view of the New Year celebrations and crowd, traffic has also been diverted from many places in the city. Traffic police has also imposed diversion in Model Town. Entry of cars will also be closed there.
