Jalandhar, March 27: In an innovative move to provide vaccination facilities to eligible beneficiaries nearby their homes, district administration on Saturday launched a mobile vaccination van in the district. This mobile van equipped with all necessary equipment and staff would visit various urban and rural locations to provide on the spot inoculation facilities to the beneficiaries.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the drive was started from Punjab Roadways office, where all the staff members of the roadways were vaccinated. The van then visited the Industrial area to cover migrant labourers under this special drive, he mentioned.
The DC stated that the move aimed at creating awareness among the general public to come forward for vaccination as this was the only solution to keep the virus at bay. He added that besides vaccination facilities being provided at various session sites set up in the district, the mobile van was launched to facilitate beneficiaries just nearby their homes. Now, they can avail the benefit of vaccination near their localities and more mobile vans would be pressed into service to cover maximum population in the coming days.
The Deputy Commissioner said under the ‘mobile vaccination’ initiative, the beneficiaries need not to book slots in advance as these facilities would be provided during the special camps. He said now health teams will visit particular area/factory/village/residential society or private establishments, where the eligible beneficiaries would be inoculated.
The DC urged people to get a vaccine jab as it could boost their immunity level to protect them from the ill-effects of the virus. He said that the vaccination was necessitated amid the current COVID situation so all the eligible beneficiaries should come forward for the vaccination. He said the vaccination would infuse a sense of confidence among beneficiaries besides ensuring their protection.
