If you're going to go shopping for shoes or slippers in Jalandhar later this month, here's something you might want to remember. Several of the major footwear markets in and around the city will be closed from June 23 till June 28, 2025, as part of their summer vacation break every year.

It was decided to suspend observation of this break in a meeting of the Wholesale Shoe Merchants Association, where it was unanimously decided to close business for one week. The meeting was conducted by Association President Davinder Singh Manchanda, and General Secretary Praveen Handa expressed thanks to members for their cooperation and solidarity in observing this long tradition.

Advisory for residents
Buyers of footwear are advised to make their purchases in advance since all shoe and slipper stores in the said markets will be closed during this time. The closure is a traditional break followed by footwear traders every summer and is expected to go back to normal business after June 28.
