Jalandhar MP Sushil Rinku raises voice in Parliament to rename Adampur Airport after Shri Guru Ravidass Ji

Says, this move will honor sentiments of millions of people across the country; also bats for early resumption of flights from NRI hub

Member Parliament Sushil Kumar Rinku on Thursday voiced the demand of naming Adampur Civil Airport after Shri Guru Ravidass Ji as resolution in this regard was already passed by the Punjab Legislative Assembly. He stated that this move will honour the sentiments of millions of people, especially followers of Guru Ravidass ji across the country.

 

During his speech in the parliament, the MP also thanked Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia for his swift action to ensure early resumption of flights at this airport. He stated that a large number of people in the country, Particularly in Punjab wish to name this airport after Shri Guru Ravidass Ji and Punjab Legislative Assembly has already passed a resolution in this regard keeping in view the mass sentiments. Therefore, it was need of hour that union government must also take necessary action to name Adampur airport after Shri Guru Ravidass Ji.

 

Notably, the MP had earlier submitted a memorandum to Union Civil Aviation Minister to restore the flight services from this airport as it would cater to the needs of thousands of passengers of Doaba region which is also known as NRI Hub. Pointing out further, the MP said that the airport terminal was revamped here with ultra-modern facilities at an outlay of Rs. 125 crore and all set to host passengers with peak hour capacity of 300 passengers daily. 

 

MP Rinku mentioned that the airport would also provide wings to aspirations of business community of this industrial town; therefore early resumption of flights from Adampur Airport was need of the hour. 

 

He also asserted that long-pending demand of people of Doaba region to start international flights to multiple destinations including UAE/Dubai, Birmingham as several tour operators from the regions also willing to participate with Indian Carries for guaranteed passenger load.
