Jalandhar: Training of food business operators regarding food safety has started: Dr. Naresh Kumar Bathla, District Health Officer

The training of food business operators under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 was inaugurated at Gymkhana Club, Jalandhar today by Dr. Raman Sharma, Civil Surgeon, Jalandhar and Dr. Done by Naresh Kumar Batla District Health Officer, Jalandhar.

Today in Gymkhana Club, Jalandhar, the training of food business operators under the Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006 has been started by Dr. Raman Sharma, Civil Surgeon Jalandhar and Dr. Naresh Kumar Bathla District Health Officer, Jalandhar. The government has started an initiative to train food business operators from July 5 to bring proper awareness about issues like food safety, quality standards and personal hygiene. 19 training partners have been selected from among the training partners listed by the FSSAI department to provide training in the state of Punjab. 

Dr. Naresh Kumar Bathla said that hotels, restaurants, hawkers, grocery merchants, distributors, dairies, confectioners, mess-canteens running in hospitals and schools-colleges, chemist shops, all types of food manufacturers, Verka/Amul etc. booths, food chains, warehouses, bakeries, slaughterhouses etc. must undergo training and obtain food safety license or registration.

Shopkeepers running hotels and restaurants and any other type of food business must undergo training under the Food Safety Act to be given the status of Food Safety Supervisor. Shopkeepers of different categories have to pay Rs.450 / - plus GST / Rs.250 / - plus Rs.531 / - and Rs.295 / -  for taking training from FSSAI certified training pattern. This training will be helpful for the traders to ensure the production and sale of high-quality products.

He said that regular training camps are organized in Jalandhar city/town by the representatives of the above companies to impart training to the traders under the Food Safety and Standards Act and to make the traders skilled in making and selling good quality food. Food Safety Officer Robin Kumar, Neha Sharma, Prabhjot Kaur and Motilal Sharma from training partner Ambika Cards were present on the occasion.
