Following the arrest of Jalandhar’s ATP Sukhdev Vashisht, the Vigilance Bureau of Punjab has intensified their fight against the illegal construction and people involved in this act. Recently the officials of VB have issued notices against the illegal buildings and colonies.
While conducting investigation in the matter, the Vigilance team sealed the houses in a colony which was built near the crematorium in Basti Sheikh. The Punjab’s VB has alleged that this colony was illegal and further investigation in the matter is being carried out.
According to the preliminary information, the Vigilance Bureau has prepared a list of the builders and dealers who might have indulged in the business of illegal construction. After this list was made, the investigation was conducted and notice was given to the owners of those properties. Along with this, certain shops were demolished and an investigation was conducted.
According to sources, on Sunday, an additional team from the Vigilance Department was sent to look into a site at the intersection of the street leading from Laxmi Cinema to Mandi Road. For nearly three hours, the team worked at the site and used various instruments to measure the buildings. The information on this building was once kept by the Municipal Corporation, but it now belongs to Vigilance authorities.
While carrying out the investigation, authorities learned that a number of places are being used unlawfully in the near vicinity of Neev Chakki and Old Des Dairy, but the Municipal Corporation did not act on the information. Additionally, attention has shifted to these subjects.
List of Notices and Sealed Buildings has been prepared
It has been reported that Vigilance prepared a list containing all the buildings with notices given by Sukhdev Vashisht. The focus of the investigation is to identify what steps were taken after the declarations and explore the consequences for the buildings that were locked.
It has been reported that a thorough list of buildings that have been shut down and demolished is also being formed. It is possible that the investigation will examine more people from the building department. All claims against the administration of not addressing illegal constructions and not respecting standards are being properly investigated.
People see this initiative of Vigilance as a good way to tackle corruption and other illegal activities in Jalandhar. Some more significant news is set to be released soon.
