The Ayushman scheme was run by the central government in every state to treat every category of people free of cost, which now seems to be a complete failure in Punjab. The main reason for this is that the hospitals have still not received the pending amounts under the Ayushman Yojana card by the Punjab government. So this scheme has now been closed by private hospitals. It has become impossible for the people to get treated under this scheme in the state.

Doctor Shubhang Agarwal of NHS Hospital, Jalandhar said that under the Ayushman card scheme, treatment is not being done in his hospital. There are two reasons for this, first is not getting money from the government and secondly, the rate list which has been prepared is very less due to which Under the Ayushman scheme, treatment is not being done in our hospital.

Regarding the same, Dr. Navjot Singh, a doctor of Global Hospital, Jalandhar and a member of East IMA Punjab, said that only after the PGI stopped the treatment, the Finance Minister of the Aam Aadmi Party government said that soon the payment of all hospitals would be delayed. Whereas they should have taken this step earlier. He further said that the government has said many times in the past that the payment will be made, but even then private hospitals do not receive the money of the Ayushman scheme, due to which the private hospitals are not treating the patients under the Ayushman scheme for the last one and a half months.
