Jallianwala Bagh centennial: Renovation of the building to take place, ban on visitors for two months

For the first time ever, martyrs ground Jallianwala Bagh to remain close for the visitors for nearly two months.

In lieu to celebrate 100 years, renovation of the historic building is underway for which visitors are not allowed to step into the building from February 15, 2020, to April 12,2020. 

While speaking to various tourists, they said after bowing down their heads at Harmandir Sahib- Golden Temple, they have a keen urge to visit Jallainwala Bagh, where April 1919 massacre emerged, claimed lives of many civilians. The place is pious for every individual, we come here to pay homage to the martyrs, on the name of renovation, the place must not be turned to a beautiful tourist location said visitors to the Bagh.

If this happens, our next generation will not come to know about their rich history and will always lack the courage to serve their nation. Renovation is vital but keep the integrity of place high, do not intend to de-root people from their actual history and tradition, added tourists while speaking to reporters.
