In a shocking development, a goods train traveling from Jammu to Punjab’s Pathankot was derailed near Madhopur Railway Station on Monday morning. The train's engine and three bogies were derailed from the tracks. Fortunately, since it was a freight train, no casualties or injuries were reported.
As per information received, the derailment occurred as the train approached Madhopur Station from Jammu. Continuous heavy rainfall had caused soil erosion and displacement of stones beneath the tracks, leading to minor damage to the rail line. As a result, the train lost balance and derailed.
Upon receiving information about the incident, railway teams and officials promptly reached the site and began relief and restoration work. Repair efforts on the damaged track are underway and officials expect the route to be restored to normal by evening.
Several trains scheduled to run on this route have been temporarily canceled due to the derailment, while others have been diverted to alternative routes. Passengers have been advised to check the status of their trains through official railway websites or local stations before traveling.
