In a blood-boiling incident, a Spanish woman tourist en route to Bhagalpur via Jharkhand was subjected to sexual violence on Saturday morning. As per reports, the Spanish woman was on a bike tour with her husband and was going to Bhagalpur via Dumka. The heinous crime took place in Dumka when the Spanish woman was resting in a tent in an isolated area beyond the Hansdiha market. The tourist reportedly had to make a halt by setting up a tent in a secluded area on Friday night. On the Spanish woman's complaint, the local Police have detained at least 3 people.
Multiple reports suggest that the crime took place in the Hansdiha police station's jurisdiction. Reports suggest that when the woman was asleep, several youths from the nearby areas forcibly entered her tent and committed the crime one by one. Not only this, the Spanish woman was also physically assaulted. Following the horrific crime, the woman was admitted to the Saraiyahat Community Health Centre (CHC) for medical treatment.
Congress leader Amba Prasad reacted to the incident and was quoted by a newswire saying, "It’s a very sad situation. Our government is not going leave the culprit and will take strict actions against him." The incident occurred at Kurumahat in Hansdiha police station area, around 300 km from state capital Ranchi, on Friday night when a tourist couple from Spain were spending the night at a makeshift tent.
