Joey Jordison: Slipknot Co-Founder and Drummer, dies at 46, Cause of death unknown?

Joey Jordison was one of the founding members as well as the drummer of the heavy metal band Slipknot. On Monday Joey passed away in his sleep.

Joey Jordison’s family during an interview, said that he died peacefully in his sleep without revealing the cause of death. Jordison was one of the main reason why slipknot was growing in its early stages. 

He was the favorite member from the band, because of his static presence behind the drums and his ever entertaining drum solos that have always left his listeners wanting more. 

“Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts ad feelings of indescribable sorrow, to those who knew Joey, understood his quick wit and his gentle heart along with his love for music and everything family” said one of the members of his family. 

Jordison was one of the highly known members from the band as he relied and worked on his music to catch people’s attention and love and not just heavy metal. 

While he had always been a drummer for Slipknot, he was also a guitarist for the band Murderdolls and played drums in Scar the Martyr. 

Joey’s family spoke about Jordison’s death with great sorrow, and asked his friends and family to give them respectable space as they organized a private funeral service. 

Fans along with media has been asked not to create any kind of trouble during their difficult times. Joey had been with the band when they initially came together in the year 1995 and stayed until they parted in the year 2013. 

While there has been no information about him leaving the band, he did mention in an interview that he did not quit the band. Slipknot made their debut in the year 1995 in the month of December. 

The core members who made the band in its nascent stages were Paul Gray as the bassist (died in 2010), Shawn Crahan as the percussionist and Joey on the drums. They together self released their debut album “Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat “ on the Halloween of 1996.

By the year 2000 Slipknot had become one of the biggest hard rock bands in the world, giving them the fame and recognition that they had never imagined. While talking about leaving the band Joey did post on his social media that he not quit the band and that he himself was shocked and heartbroken when he got to know that he will no longer be a part of the band.
