Jolt to Congress, Punjab committee Gen Secy, other leaders joins AAP

People of Punjab being influenced by work of AAP - Jarnail Singh/Harpal Cheema

Impressed with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab's direct stand in favour of all the sections including farmers, labourers and small traders; the party's family has been steadily growing. In a jolt to Congress, several leaders, in the presence of AAP Punjab in-charge and MLA from Delhi, Jarnail Singh and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Legislative Assembly Harpal Singh Cheema, joined AAP along with their associates here on Tuesday.

Neeraj Mittal, general secretary Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, president International Hindu Mahasabha, Punjab and Aggarwal Sabha, Jalandhar, along with a large number of associates joined AAP.

Also, Balkar Singh Chatha from Shahkot constituency, who is the chairman of sports and culture cell of Jalandhar District Congress Committee and member of Zila Parishad from Dhandowal zone in Jalandhar district, joined the party. He was also senior vice president of Youth Congress, Jalandhar district. Apart from this, Hemant Sabharwal, former secretary of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee and former vice president of Punjab Pradesh Congress sports and cultural activity cell and dozens of workers joined the Aam Aadmi Party.

Congratulating those who joined the party, the AAP leaders said that the party would be stronger with the hard work of the leaders. Neeraj Mittal, who joined the party, said that he joined AAP, as he was impressed by the work being done by the Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi for the farmers. He said that efforts would be made day and night to strengthen the party.

On the occasion, state treasurer Neena Mittal, state joint secretary Harminder Bakshi, Jalandhar Urban incharge Rajwinder Kaur, Jalandhar Rural incharge Principal Prem Kumar, senior leaders Ramneek Singh Randhawa, Gurvinder Singh, social media incharge Sanjeev Bhagat, event incharge Pardeep Duggal, media incharge Tarandeep Sunny, Dr Jasveer Singh, Harcharan Singh Sandhu, Balbir Singh, Raman Kumar, Amritpal Singh, Jaskaran Singh, Varun Sajjan, Sukhjinder Singh Sandhu, Subash Sharma, Jagtar Singh, Roshan Lal, Harjinder Singh, Santokh Singh, Vicky Atwal, Harminder Joshi, Gurinder Singh, Jeetram, Rattan Singh, Tajinder Singh, among others were present.
