Journalist Vinod Dua dies, daughter Mallika says 'now he's with his beloved wife'

Comedian Mallika Dua shared that her father’s last rites will be performed tomorrow at the Lodhi crematorium.

Father of famous comedian Mallika Dua, renowned journalist Vinod Dua breathed his last on Saturday evening at the age of 67. Mallika Dua confirming the demise of her father shared the details of last rites on social media and penned, “he is now with his beloved wife Chinna in heaven.”


The veteran journalist was rushed to Parmananad Hospital in critical condition on November 28. Since then, Mr Dua was fighting for his life. He was later transferred to Apollo Hospital on November 30 due to his deteriorating condition. Mr Dua fought for four days and breathed his last today.

His last rites will be performed tomorrow, December 5, at the Lodhi crematorium.

Sharing the news of her father’s demise, comedian Mallika Dua wrote, “Our irreverent, fearless and extraordinary father, Vinod Dua has passed away. He lived an inimitable life, rising from the refugee colonies of Delhi to the peak of journalistic excellence for over 42 years, always, always speaking truth to power. He is now with our mom, his beloved wife Chinna in heaven where they will continue to sing, cook, travel and drive each other up the wall.”

“The cremation will take place tomorrow (5.12.21) at Lodhi crematorium at 12 noon,” she added.




Earlier on November 30 when rumours about Vinod Dua’s death spread, Mallika had said ”My Papaji is beyond critical in the ICU. His health had been deteriorating rapidly since April. He also is unable to come to terms with losing the light of his life. He has lived an extraordinary life and given us the same. He deserves no pain. He is immensely loved and revered and I request you all to pray that he experiences as little pain as possible."

Today, the journalist passed away after a long illness.

Vinod Dua was admitted to the hospital early this year with Covid-19. After a long battle with coronavirus, he lost his wife, radiologist Padmavati 'Chinna' Dua, in June. His health was deteriorating since then.
