"I am safe because I was travelling in a bulletproof car": BJP chief JP Nadda’s convoy attacked in Bengal

The situation in Bengal is getting worse day by day as the convoy of BJP national president J P Nadda, which also included vehicles of other senior BJP leaders, was allegedly attacked with stones and bricks while on its way to Diamond Harbour in Kolkata on Thursday.

As per reports, a number of cars, including that of BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh, were damaged in the attack.

BJP President JP Nadda at South 24 Paraganas said, "There isn't a car in our convoy which was not attacked. I am safe because I was travelling in a bulletproof car. This state of lawlessness and intolerance in West Bengal has to end. I can say with confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party will form the next government in West Bengal in 2021, lotus will bloom."

"Mukul Roy and Kailash Vijayvargiya were injured in the attack today. It is a shame on democracy," Nadda added. 

Governor of Bengal,  Jagdeep Dhankhar, also responded to it. In a series of tweet he wrote, "Concerned at alarming reports of anarchy and lawlessness @MamataOfficial indicating ruling party harmads on rampage at BJP President Convoy and political police @WBPolice in support. This happening inspite of my alerts to CS & DGP early  morning indicated collapse of law & order,

To CS @MamataOfficial at 8.19 am to CS As discussed-Time for SP Diamond Harbour to act a public servant. At 8.30 am response from CS Respected Sir, alerted and sensitized DGP accordingly. Regards. Events indicate total abdication of lawful authority.

West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh said, "Trinamool Congress workers sporting party flags and armed with lathis attacked our convoy at multiple places. Stones and bricks were hurled by TMC workers. Several cars have sustained damage. Police were mute spectators in some places and missing elsewhere."
