The murder of Ludhiana-based Instagram influencer Kamal Kaur Bhabhi aka Kanchan Kumari, has puzzled everyone. Kamal had received multiple death threats in the past, allegedly for making obscene content. The Bathinda police on Friday addressed a press conference in which they revealed Kamal Kaur Bhabhi Murder Reason and who killed Kamal Kaur Bhabhi. Bathinda Police have arrested two accused in the murder of Kamal Kaur Bhabhi. The arrested suspects have been identified as 32-year-old Jaspreet Singh from Mehru (Moga) and 21-year-old Nimnarjeet Singh from Tarn Taran. The alleged mastermind, Amritpal Singh Meharon, remains absconding. Police teams are actively searching for him.

Bathinda SSP Amandeep Kaur Kondal during the press conference, confirmed that Kamal Kaur was murdered over her social media videos, which the accused believed were 'misleading youth.' Despite being warned earlier, she continued creating such content, according to the accused.

How was Kamal Kaur killed?

On June 9, the trio allegedly lured Kamal Kaur to Bathinda under the pretext of a showroom promotion. Claiming their car had broken down, they took her to a garage in Bhucho Mandi, where she was strangled. Her body was later placed in her own vehicle and abandoned in the parking lot near Adesh University.

Earlier that morning, a disturbing post surfaced on social media allegedly from Amritpal, justifying the killing by accusing Kamal Kaur of 'defaming Sikh culture' by using the surname ‘Kaur’.

Kamal Kaur Murder Case in Detail

Police received a call at 7:30 PM reporting a suspicious car emitting a foul smell and blood stains in the Cantonment area. A forensic team was dispatched, and the body was identified as that of Kanchan Kumari from Ludhiana.

Kanchan’s mother, Girja Devi, told police that Amritpal had visited them around June 7–8 and invited her daughter to Bathinda for a promotional event. She left on June 9 and was unreachable by night.

Jaspreet and Nimnarjeet, acting on Amritpal’s instructions, picked her up in a Scorpio vehicle. They allegedly strangled her in a garage and dumped her body in her own car, parked at a university lot.

Neighbours, including a local resident Ravi Kumar, described Kanchan as the youngest of five siblings, with two married brothers and one married sister. “Her real life was different from what she showed online,” Ravi said, adding that she used to work in a private bank but left during the COVID pandemic.
