All is not well with Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut after her movie Tejas failed to bring a larger audience to theaters and earned the tag of disaster with an overall collection of only INR 5.6 cr. Not only this, Kangana Ranaut's previous movie Dhaakad also fell flat at the box office. Amid a series of failures, Kangana on Monday expressed her disappointment with fans who went gaga for the movie Animal and made it a blockbuster. Kangana pointed out that the movie showcased women as sex objects and Ranbir's character asked a woman to lick his boots. And, instead of outrage, such movies are highly appreciated by fans and this has broken her heart. In her tweet, Kangana expressed that she might shift her career hinting that she may quit acting and Bollywood and opt for something else.
Taking to her official X handle, Kangana Rananut wrote, "The latest trend of films where women are reduced to mere flower on the wall, violently and disgracefully stripped of their dignity and clothes is beyond appalling. Reminds me of the time when I entered films, vulgar item numbers, quick in and out sleazy and dumb roles against older men were prevalent.
Many years later fighting for pay parity, trying to encourage female lead films like Gangster, Woh Lamhe, Fashion, Queen, Tanu Weds Manu, Manikarnika, Thalaivii, Tejas I ruffled many feathers along the way.
Went against big production houses like YRF and Dharma. Said no to big heroes like Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor. Not because I had anything personal against them, all for the cause of woman empowerment and today looking at the condition of women in films my heart sinks… is film industry only to blame for this? Audiences have no participation in this steep regression of women in films ?"
After a fan pointed out that she saw Tejas on Zee5 and the movie was spectacular, Kangan responded, "Paid negativity for my films is overwhelming, I have been fighting hard so far but even audiences are encouraging women beating films where they are treated like sex objects and asked to lick shoes, this is deeply discouraging for someone who has been dedicating her life for woman empowerment films, might shift career in coming years, want to give best years of my life to something worthwhile."
It is pertinent to mention here that Kangana's hint to quit acting came amid reports that she will be contesting the Lok Sabha Election 2024 on the BJP ticket. Kangana met and hosted BJP Chief JP Nadda at her Himachal residence and her father while talking to a portal confirmed that his daughter will contest the General Elections 2024 on a BJP ticket. However, from which constituency and state, she will fight election, it is yet to be revealed.
