Actress Kangana Ranaut has expressed her support for the proposal to change the official name of our nation from India to Bharat. She recently took to social media to share her perspective and highlight her earlier anticipation of this potential change dating back to 2021.

"Why not Bharat?" Kangana's Question

On Tuesday, Kangana Ranaut shared a screenshot of an old interview where she had expressed her desire to change the country's name two years ago. She had stated, "We received the name India from the British, so the country's name should be Bharat." Sharing her old tweet, Kangana congratulated everyone and wrote, "We are free from the name of slavery... Jai Bharat."

What's in a Name? Kangana's Perspective

Kangana Ranaut has recently raised an intriguing question in one of her tweets: "What's the significance of holding onto the name 'India'? Initially, the foreign invaders struggled with the pronunciation of 'Sindhu,' leading to distortions like 'Indus' or 'Hindos.' Since the era of the Mahabharata, all the states participating in the epic Kurukshetra war were known as 'Bharat Mahadvip.' So why were we referred to as 'Indu Sindhu'?"

This tweet by Kangana has emerged amidst ongoing discussions about the potential renaming of the country. Notably, a significant event is scheduled between September 9th and 10th at Pragati Maidan, Delhi, where the G20 Summit will convene. Invitations for the summit's dinner have already been dispatched, and they feature "President of Bharat" in lieu of "President of India."

Support from Bollywood and Cricket

Preceding Kangana's stance, the esteemed actor Amitabh Bachchan silently expressed his support by tweeting, "Jai Bharat – Victory to Mother India." Many have interpreted his tweet as a subtle endorsement of the idea to rename the country from India to Bharat.

Furthermore, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has also voiced his approval of the name change through social media channels. Presently, hashtags such as #bharat and #IndiaVsBharat are gaining popularity on social media platforms. While a significant portion of the population supports the alteration of the country's official name, there is also a faction that opposes it.

Kangana Ranaut's endorsement of renaming the country as Bharat reflects her profound reverence for our nation's history and cultural heritage. As discussions regarding this potential change persist, it is evident that this topic has ignited a fervent debate among the citizens of our great nation.
