
In a major success, Kapurthala police have busted a gangof robbers by arresting its two members and seizing one country made .12 borepistol and two live cartridges from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Deepak alias Jaggi ofRamgarh, Bholath and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi resident of Kamrai of thedistrict.
Disclosing further details, Senior Superintendent ofPolice (SSP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that under the supervision of SP(Investigation) Vishaljit Singh and DSP Kamaljit Singh, SHO Bholath SubInspector Jasveer Singh and his team arrested accused Deepak and GurpreetSingh.
SSP said that MC Kuldeep Singh who runs a Western Unionshop at Kamrai, Bholath was shot by six unidentified youths who came to hisshop on two motorcycles and a scooter. Out of which two youths came inside his shop and started talking to himabout ordering money from abroad.
Onsuspicion Kuldeep Singh grabbed a suspect by the throat then they call theiraccomplices and one of the accused opened fire and Kuldeep Singh with a pistolon his right thigh with the intention of killing him and looted. They fled to the Bhogpur side on a scooter. During the investigation, various teams wereformed to trace and arrest the culprits of the case.
During interrogation, the accused Deepak alias Jaggi saidthat he was involved in the incident with his relative Jas alias YuvrajSabharwal of Gali Ghumiaranwali, Majitha Road Amritsar and Shiv who is Jas'sfriend and along with three other unidentified youths, about whom Jas knowswell. Gurpreet had told him to do recce earlier and he had called his fellowaccused from Amritsar who joined them in the incident.
Accused Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi said that two cases ofmurder and robbery of cash van have already been registered against him inBhogpur police station, Jalandhar district and he has come out on bail in themurder case and one case has been registered in Kotwali police station underNDPS ACT in District Kapurthala.
Accused Deepak alias Jaggi said that he was also bookedin Kartarpur police station on charges of looting of Kartarpur financier andtwo cases of illegal pistol and one theft in Bhulath police station.
During the investigation it was also found that thefugitive accused Jas alias Yuvraj Sabharwal has been convicted of murder inChheharta police station under Amritsar Commissionerate and cases have beenregistered against him in Majitha Road police station and other police stationsfor two different offenses.
Police party is also conducting raids in Amritsar to nabthe absconding accused, he added.
HPS Khakh said that the accused arrested in the casewould be taken on remand to get clues about other gang members.
He added that police would produce them before themagistrate and would seek remand to complete further investigation and arrestthe remaining members of the gang.
Giving details of the past records of the criminals, theSSP said that these criminals are habitual offenders.
