Subhanpur, Kapurthala: In a significant development aimed at curbing the drug trade in the region, Kapurthala Police, acting on the directives of Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, successfully seized six kilograms of heroin and recovered Rs. 7 lakh in drug money.

The operation resulted in the apprehension of five individuals, including two Delhi-based brothers, who were in the area to distribute the seized heroin.

SSP Rajpal Singh Sandhu revealed that the police received a tip-off regarding a heroin supply and a drug money exchange near Ramidi Bridge. Acting swiftly, law enforcement officers apprehended five individuals and confiscated the six kilograms of heroin.

The suspects were identified as Kashmir Singh from Dogranwala, Swaran Singh alias Chapar from Villa Kothi, Amandeep Singh from Dyalpur, and Rahul and Atul, both brothers from Patel Garden, Dwarka Mor, New Delhi.

The SSP provided further details of the operation, stating that the police team recovered 2 kilograms of heroin and Rs. 1 lakh in drug money from Kashmir Singh, along with a Swift car with the registration number PB-09-AK-1703.

Similarly, 2 kilograms of heroin were found in the possession of Swaran Singh alias Chapar, while Amandeep Singh had one kilogram of heroin and Atul had one kilogram of heroin along with Rs. 6.

Rahul and Atul, the Delhi-based brothers, were operating a TATA Hexa car with the registration number HR-26-DD-2984, which was also seized by the police.

SSP Rajpal Singh Sandhu commended the operation, which was supervised by SP (Investigation) Ramninder Singh, DSP (D) Gurmeet Singh, and CIA Inspector Jarnail Singh. Sub-Inspector Labh Singh led the police team during the raid near Ramidi Bridge, resulting in the successful arrest of the smugglers and the seizure of the heroin.

Furthermore, the SSP disclosed that Sukhdev Singh, also known as Sebi from Dogranwala, was the main kingpin responsible for supplying heroin in the area after it was brought from New Delhi. Rahul and Atul had come to Subhanpur to facilitate the distribution of the consignment and drug money, as instructed by Sukhdev.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend Sukhdev Singh, the main kingpin, who is expected to be in custody soon. A case under sections 21(C) and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Subhanpur police station.

SSP Rajpal Singh Sandhu issued a stern warning to those involved in smuggling and drug supply activities, assuring that stringent action would be taken against them, with no one being spared.
