Karan Johar's Jugjugg Jeeyo in legal trouble: Filmmaker accused of copying song & story of upcoming film

Legal trouble seems to be mounting upon Dharma Production boss Karan Johar ever since he unveiled the trailer of his much-awaited movie Jugjugg Jeeyo. Jugjugg Jeeyo Trailer was launched Sunday with the star cast Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, and Anil Kapoor was joined by the veteran film-maker Karan Johar.  Jugjugg Jeeyo trailer was released in presence of the media and the event was full of hilarious conversation. However, Jugjugg Jeeyo has been accused of copying a song and story. 

Jugjugg Jeeyo plagiarism report started doing rounds after a Pakistani singer named accused Karan Johar of copying his song 'Naach Punjaban'. Not only this an Indian scriptwriter took to his Twitter handle and accused Karan Johar of copying his story and changing its title to Jugjugg Jeeyo.

Following the release of its trailer, Jugjugg Jeeyo Naach Naach Punjabi song copied report started doing rounds after a Pakistani Singer named Abrar Ul Haq accused Karan Johar and the filmmakers of using his song ‘Nach Punjaban’ without his consent. Abrar took to his Twitter handle and went to threaten Dharma Production and Karan Johar to take legal action.

"I have not sold my song “ Nach Punjaban” to any Indian movie and reserve the rights to go to court to claim damages. Producers like @karanjohar should not use copy songs. This is my 6th song being copied which will not be allowed at all (SIC)," wrote Abrar Ul Haq. 




Karan Johar Jugjugg Jeeyo Story plagiarism

The legal trouble over Karan Johar turned even more serious when an Indian scriptwriter accused the Dharma Production of copying his script which he had sent to them without his consent. Jugjugg Jeeyo Story copy report started trending when an India named Vishal A. Singh, who is reportedly a screenwriter leveled plagiarism charges on Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions as well. He alleged that his story titled ‘Bunny Rani’ has been copied by KJo’s Dharma Productions as Jugjugg Jeeyo.

"Had registered a story.. #BunnyRani with @swaindiaorg in January 2020. I had officially mailed @DharmaMovies in February 2020 for an opportunity to co-produce with them. I even got a reply from them. And they have taken my story.. and made #JugJuggJeeyo. Not fair @karanjohar (SIC)," wrote the screenwriter. 

It is pertinent to mention here that Vishal also shared the screenshot of the mail sent to Dharma Production which was also acknowledged by Karan Johar's production house. 

Notably, Karan Johar and Dharma Production are yet to issue their official statements on the accusations of plagiarism reports. Jugjugg Jeeyo will hit the theaters on June 24 and with this movie, Varun Dhawan and Kiara Adani will be seen together on screen for the first time. Not only this, Neetu Kapoor is also returning to the big screen after nearly seven years.
