Katni Court Sends Legal Notice To Akshay Kumar and Rustom Makers For Calling Lawyers ‘Shameless’

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, Subhash Chandra of Zee Entertainment, as well as producer-director and writer of Rustom movie have got into trouble. The case is related to a scene in the 2016 film Rustom. In a scene, the court of Katni has issued a notice on the petition of complainant Manoj Gupta for calling the lawyer as 'shameless'. Also, the court has ordered all to appear on 10 March.

In the year 2016, during the dialogue in a scene of Akshay Kumar starrer film 'Rustom', the complainant Manoj Gupta has filed a petition in the court of Katni for calling the lawyer as 'shameless'. It is being told that the complainant himself is a lawyer by profession. He saw the film with his partner Anshu Mishra.

Manoj has mentioned in the petition that in one scene of the film, the main character of the film (Akshay Kumar) is using the word "shameless" for the lawyer while cross-examining the other actors (Anang Dewi) during the court proceedings. Which is completely wrong. Also, this word is challenging the legal functioning of any person and hurts his professional life. In such a situation, all the lawyers were defamed due to shameless addressing of the lawyer. Hence, the complainant has asked the court to punish those responsible for the film.

Taking cognizance of the case, the Katni court granted the film's hero Akshay Kumar, Zee Entertainment's Subhash Chandra, director Tinu Suresh Desai, writer Vipul K Rawal, film artist Anang Desai, City Pride Cinema Hall, City Mall Katni owner Suresh Gupta and others. People have been ordered to appear in court on 10 March.

According to the legal affairs expert, the Katni Additional Sessions Judge, in this case, has issued a notice of production during the hearing on 10 March 2021. Mithilesh Jain, the lawyer for the complainant, said that all the clauses in the libel presented under sections 500, 501, 502 are bailable. Also, there is a provision for two years of imprisonment or a fine.
