Kejriwal steps in to trace R-Day violence missing protesters, releases list

Arvind Kejriwal also said that he will take up the matter of missing farmers with the Lieutenant Governor and the Centre if the need arises.

Day after Samyukt Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of protesting farmer unions, met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to discuss their issues, he on Wednesday has assured that his government will help trace the missing farmers and assured take up the matter of missing farmer with the Lieutenant Governor and the Centre if the need ensues.

Kejriwal has released a list of 115 protesters who have been arrested by Delhi police in relation with the R-Day tractor rally mayhem. Presently, all arrested are lodged in different jails in Delhi.

  

"We are releasing a list of 115 protesters who were arrested by police about the Republic Day incident and are in different jails in the city,” Kejriwal said while speaking at a press conference. 

"Our government will make every effort to trace the protesters who are missing and I will even speak to the Lt Governor and the central government if the need arises," the Delhi CM said.

 


SKM demanded a judicial enquiry

A delegation of the legal team of Samyukt Kisan Morcha met Kejriwal on Tuesday with a demand for a judicial inquiry into the alleged "conspiracy against the farmers' protest". The team also asked for a medical board to examine those protesters in jail.

Mr Kejriwal, however, did not make any comment on the demand for judicial inquiry.

The SKM statement said, “The delegation demanded a medical board and said the investigation will expose the police brutality done on farmers. The leaders also demanded a judicial inquiry into the whole case so that the conspiracy of January 26 could be revealed.”

The farmer union also asked to return the tractors and other vehicles seized by the police.
