Kerala CM orders no electricity bill collection, recovery by banks for amid Covid crisis

Will the other states also consider the plight of their civilians during the pandemic situation?

In a sigh of relief to the people amid the Covid-19 crisis, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on May 5 has ordered the state electricity board to do not collect the electricity bills for at least two months. Along with this, he has also asked the banks to halt the recovery proceeding as the people are going through tough times.

“Banks should stop all recovery proceedings considering the pandemic situation people are going through. Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) and Kerala Water Authority (KWA) have been asked to stop collect pending bill arrears for two months,” Vijayan was quoted as saying by a news agency.

The CM further added that the state police will help people to get the medicines along with the task of spreading Covid-19 awareness on social media platforms.

“Those who need emergency medicines and are unable to go out can seek the help of Kerala Police to buy medicine by calling the police control room,” he said.

Taking cognizance of the rising positivity rate of Covid cases in the state he assured that people would be inoculated soon after the state receive the vaccine lot. The CM today had written to PM Modi to seek allocation of 1,000 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen and 75 lakh doses of vaccine.

As per the state health ministry data, 37,190 people tested positive for the virus on Tuesday.

However, now the question arises here, will the other states also consider the plight of their civilians during the pandemic situation?

It may be noted here that this could be the reason why Kerala’s public has reinstated faith in the Left government, as it puts the commoners first and their liabilities towards the state after in the pandemic situation.
