Aditi Ashok who is an Indian Olympic Golfer ranked 4thin the final round and second, in the 3rd round, it is her 2nd the time that she has appeared in the Olympics, though she missed out on making ahistory, but this 23-year-old is really passionate about her games and has goneto many European tours, she started her career in the 2016 Rio Olympics. She is theyoungest and first Indian to secure her Ladies European Tour card in 2016season as well as the first Indian to win the European Tour title.

She said, “My social media following just blew upovernight, I never thought the Olympics could impact golf that much in India. So knowing that it could bring that many more eyeballs to the sport was a goodthing.”

It was really hard for Aditi to practice for the TokyoOlympics in between the Covid-19 pandemic, she caught Covid herself and she hadto practice hitting iron in a makeshift net that couldn’t handle drivers andwedges. After getting affected by the fatal virus her strength and immunity wasreduced.

“It took a little bit of strength out of me, I was neverthis short. I was always short but not 50 behind Nelly and 50 behind Nanna,” Sheexplained how Covid affected her in her sports.

After the lack of strength, she is trying to regain herstrength and increase her driving distance back again but the process wouldtake a lot of time, which she didn’t have so she found a short term solution tohis she convinced herself to accept the fact that she needs to play her shortdistance game only, and after that, she thought of practicing her short distancegame and do her best in the same, further achieving success in the same.

She told, “I’ve worked on my short game a lot…I couldspend six, eight hours just practicing chipping or bunker shots. Having thatconfidence that even if I miss a green I can make par is what gets me throughsome of the longer venues and gets me through some of the rounds where I knowgirls are going to be hitting from like 40, 50 yards in front of me.”

With this, she is able to cover a lot of her flaws bybeing perfect in her short game itself, and this strategy has helped her rank 4thin the finals which is quite close to winning a medal and obviously coming 2ndin semi-finals with a short game is not something everyone can achieve.
